Country Fried Steak

Ingredients:
  • 4 beef cubed steaks (about 1 lbs)
  • 2 large egg whites, well beaten
  • 2 Tbsp milk
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • Prepared salsa, plain yogurt
Coating Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup unseasoned dry bread crumbs
  • 1 Tbsp cornmeal
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Spicy Seasoning Mix (recipe follows)
Spicy Seasoning Mix Ingredients:
  • 3 Tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 3/4 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp ground red pepper

Preparation:

Combine egg whites and milk in shallow dish. Combine coating ingredients in second shallow dish. Dip beef steaks into egg white mixture, then into coating mixture, to coat both sides.

Heat oil in large nonstick skillet over medium to medium high heat until hot. Place steaks in skillet; cook 5 to 6 minutes, turning once. Serve with salsa and yogurt.

Preparation:

Comgine all ingredients and store in airtight container. Shake before using.
