Red Velvet Cake #8

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar
  • 2 oz. red cake food coloring

Preparation:

Cream shortening and sugar.

Add eggs, vanilla and cocoa. Sift in flour and salt.

Add to mixture, alternating with buttermilk to which soda and vinegar have been added. Add food coloring.

Bake in two 8 inch pans at 325° F for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool and spilt layers in half. Frost.
