Red Velvet Pound Cake

Ingredients:
  • 3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 1 stick butter
  • 7 eggs
  • 3 cup flour, sifted
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 oz. bottle of red food coloring
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Preparation:

Cream together the Crisco, butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Next add 1/2 of the flour to the creamed mixture and bea Tbsp Then add 1/2 of the milk and mix.

Continue with the other 1/2 flour and then add the other 2 cups milk, red food coloring and vanilla. Beat until mixture is smooth. Bake in a tubed cake pan for 1 1/2 hour at 325° F. Cool 15 minutes before removing from the pan. To make icing: Mix confectioners sugar, cream cheese and margarine with 1/3 cups milk added slowly until it is smooth for spreading on cake.
