Steamed Asparagus

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 lbs asparagus, trimmed
  • 1 quart water, boiling
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste image placeholder

Heat heavy sauce pan over high heat. Add sugar; stirring until sugar melts.

Add asparagus and boiling water. Cover pan; boil hard for 5 minutes. Drain; plunge asparagus into ice water.

In large saucepan melt butter; add asparagus; stir until well coated and heated through. Season to taste.
