Wrap ribs in foil, layered with onion, liquid smoke and garlic powder. Bake in 350° F oven for 2 hours. Drain fat from ribs. Replace in foil.
In a saucepan mix together barbecue sauce, celery seed, mustard, ketchup, brown sugar, soy sauce, worcestershire sauce and ground ginger. Heat until dissolved. Pour sauce over hot ribs and allow to stand at room temperature at least 1 hour, turning ribs and basting with sauce. Freeze or reheat uncovered in 350° oven for 30 minutes.
