Salt ribs; place in shallow roasting pan. Roast at 450° F for 30 minutes.
Drain off excess fat. Top each rib with a slice of onion.
Pour basting sauce over ribs. Lower oven temperature to 350° F and bake until well done, about 1 1/2 hours.
Baste ribs with sauce every 15 minutes. If sauce gets too thick, add more water.
