Aunt Dodie's Eggless Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup lard
- 1 cup sweet milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp slat
- 1 tsp (scant) cream of tartar
- 1 tsp (scant) baking soda
- 2 cups flour
Preparation:
Cream sugar and lard. Add milk and vanilla. Add cloves, cinnamon and salt. Mix together the cream of tartar, baking soda and flour. Beat this into the batter, a little at a time.
Pour into a greased tin, bake in a moderate oven until done. This is good with a little cream poured over each serving.
