Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Stir in egg yolks beaten with vanilla. Sift twice the flour, baking powder and salt, then add the anise seed.
Mix all together. Makes a soft dough and more flour may be needed. Roll out on floured board 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes.
Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Brush with one or two more beaten egg yolks. Bake at 350° about 15 minutes until just starting to brown.
