Mix first 5 ingredients. Add milk, salad oil and vanilla. Mix until smooth. Stir in nuts. Pour into greased 9x13 inch pan.
Mix together brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa until it's very smooth. A fork works well. Sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water over entire batter.
Bake at 350° about 45-50 minutes. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
The chocolate pudding will thicken as it cools.
