Use a glass bowl. Dissolve yeast in 3/4 cup warm water. Add oil, sugar and egg. Stir. Add 1/2 cup warm water, salt and flour. Mix with wooden spoon.
Pour dough into a greased glass bowl, cover with Saran Wrap, and set in a warm place to rise. Let rise until it doubles in size. After dough rises, pour out on a floured board and knead briefly.
Cut out or choke out and place on buttered pan. Bake at 400° F until golden brown. Brush tops with butter, if desired.
