Put sugar and shortening in bowl and add boiling water to melt. In a small bowl, combine yeast and warm water together. When sugar and shortening are cool, add egg and mix. Pour yeast mixture and dash of salt and mix. Let stand in refrigerator for 1 hour.
Roll out and spread butter, brown sugar and cinnamon and roll up. Cut and put in pans. Let rise in warm place until doubled in size. Bake at 350° F for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
