Hungarian Stuffed Cabbage

Ingredients:
  • 4-5 lbs ground chuck or turkey
  • 1 lrg can of tomato sauce, and 1/2 can of water
  • 2 med. cabbage
  • 2 cup uncooked rice
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 lrg jar sauerkraut
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp salt

Preparation:

Microwave each head of cabbage (about 10 minutes or until soft Remove cabbage leaves. Cook rice according to directions and let cool. Mix meat, eggs, rice, salt and pepper throughly in a large bowl.

Put small portion of mixture into a cabbage leaf and roll tucking in the ends. Layer in a crock pot or kettle. Pour tomato sauce over each layer. Cover cabbage rolls with sauerkrautp. Add water after pot is full. If using a crock pot, cook overnight or until done. If cooking on the stove, bring to a boil and then reduce to low. Cook several hours or until done.
